Greece - Part 3
Happy Friday! I'm closing in on our Greece trip today (back to regularly scheduled real life coming Monday ---- but SUMMER!!!) and have lots of fun photos to share!
Tuesday was another gorgeous day in Greece - a lot of people talked about how windy Mykonos is, but we had barely any wind, which means it was hot. Tuesday was probably the hottest day while we were there, and after sleeping in until 10:30 (YES PLEASE!), we rolled out of bed and I had to hustle over to the spa for a facial. Rough life, I know.
Collin and Norah hung by the pool while I had my treatment, and then we switched. Collin had a deep tissue massage while Norah and I ate lunch poolside and visited with all the sweet waitresses at the hotel. The greek people are SO kind, looooved visiting and getting to know us and were just so happy. Love that.
We spent (shocker, I know) another afternoon by the pool and had a super low-key dinner at the next hotel over. Norah ate her weight in pasta, I had the freshest hummus ever ( SO GOOD ) and Collin had a cheeseburger (HA!). We went back to our hotel bar, had a cocktail and the most amazing dessert ever and then went to our room for an early bedtime. Vacation is so fun because you can do whatever you want at whatever time and there are zero repercussions.
We woke up Wednesday morning, our last full day, and jumped in a shuttle to get to a 10 AM cooking class. There were chefs there making some amazing dishes and it was SO cool to watch. Baked Eggplant with tomato, feta and carmelized onions, traditional greek tzatziki, salads, an orzo dish and so much more.
After our cooking class (which was complete with a 10 am glass of rose and way to much cheese), we hit the beach for the rest of the day. We went to Elia beach, which was absolutely gorgeous. Lots of people, boats, and even some naked people watching. #whenineurope There was a gentleman that was walking around selling fresh donuts - easily the best I've ever had. Doughy and thick, tons of crunchy sugar. TO DIE FOR. Norah loved the sand until she had to stop eating it, and she even blessed us with a little beach nap. We swam in the ocean - which was SO refreshing - and just had the best day soaking in the beach. I normally hate sand, but I embraced it and really enjoyed our time there. (stripe suit)
We wrapped up the evening with an amazing bazillion course Sushi dinner that seemed to go on for hours. It was such a beautiful night to wrap up a vacation of a lifetime.
We headed out the next morning at 6:00 am and didn't end up getting home for another 30 HOURS due to some missed flights, travel delays, a bomb threat in Rome and basically anything else that could possibly go wrong. Long story short, we sprinted through TWO airports, ate one slice of pizza each in the sum of 30 hours and at one point had booked a hotel in NYC. We made it home at 2:00 AM our time (NOON, greek time) and took the best shower of my life before getting in bed for FOUR WHOLE HOURS before the kids woke up. SO much travel, so much jet lag but man it was good to get home to our babies.
Collin made a fun little video to wrap up our trip that I'll share here! Hope you enjoy - have a fabulous weekend!
