Baylor's John Deere Party

We are anything but farm people, we live in a very developed area, and it's safe to say that there will be no real tractors in our future. However, we have a 5 year old who's love for John Deere runs as deep as the corn fields are wide. It probably started with his love for all things trucks, and then Collin introduced him to an old Joe Diffie. song about John Deere Green, Billy Bob, & Charlene (which you've totally heard if you follow my instagram stories even remotely), and it just grew from there. At this point, they're all household names (charlene is winnie's pet bunny) and his obsession with the green & yellow is fervent. SO, when the topic came up for Birthday Party themes (wayyy back in January, as preschoolers do), John Deere was one of the top runners. The theme ended up sticking and I'll share it all with you ;) 

Baylor requested we serve hot dogs with mustard, salad, grapes and chips. I agreed immediately in hopes it wasn't too good to be true - just doesn't get easier than that you guys. God Bless Boys. 

I set up a corn table for the kids to play with, which was a total hit. We just filled a Land of Nod water table with whole dried corn while Collin battled his OCD most of the evening as the corn was scattered (read: dumped) everywhere. #hesweptforanhour

It was boiling hot out for the party, so we had the pool out, I blew up a gazillion water balloons and we set up the water table for the littler ones. One of our best friends just so happens to be a firefighter, and mid-party, the sirens rang out front and he & his crew pulled up & did a little birthday show for Baylor. It was SO fun - they let the kids spray the hose (which doubled as a sprinkler, PTL!) and climb in the truck to their hearts desire. Talk about dreams coming true! Baylor was a bit unsure about the whole experience, but talked about it relentlessly when he knew everything was nice & safe. As for me - I felt great peace knowing I could go into labor at any second and have 3 well-equipped firefighters at my fingertips ;) 

We did a piñata, which is always totally stressful, but the kids (Apparently, Collin too!) basically live for it, so I buckled at the pressure. 

I set up a little treat bar with all of Baylor's favorites (gum, suckers, bouncy balls, & taffy) for the kids to take home more sugar, as to not lose my "fun mom" reputation ;) It was pretty picked over by the time I actually had a chance to take a pic, which I guess was a success! 

We seriously had SUCH a fun time - everyone left with wet bathing suits, full of sugar, and a little sun kissed.  We loved celebrating our big 5 year old, and just today, as he was riding his bike, he said "I finally feel 5!!" :)
